Applications of Newspaper Racks
Vendors commonly use newspaper racks to display products on the street, in hotel lobbies and office buildings, and in retail stores. They may be used to display products other than newspapers as well, such as brochures, pamphlets, snacks, or drinks. The strength of the wire form racks and their light weight makes them ideal for storing and merchandising even products with substantial weight.
Newspaper Rack Design and Customization
Wire form newspaper racks come in a variety of sizes, shapes, colors and finishes, and can be custom manufactured to suit the needs of any retail store location or commercial venture. They are typically fabricated from stainless steel, steel, or aluminum. These materials are affordable, lightweight, strong, and durable. They can be freestanding (designed to stand on the retail floor to display merchandise), countertop (to display newspapers, magazines, and other products next to a cash register or on any counter), or mounted on a wall.
Newspaper racks are produced by heat-treating, bending, or cutting wire. Rust and weather-resistant coatings may be applied if the racks are intended for outdoor use. Newspaper racks’ wire parts and components are manufactured either by machines run manually or automatically. In the latter case, machines using computer numeric control (CNC) are programmed with precise measurements and specifications. These automated machines can efficiently, continuously fabricate and assemble the wire parts required to produce a newspaper rack, as well as reduce human error. One, two, three, or more horizontal shelves may either lay flat in the rack’s frame or be raised in the back so that the product is elevated. Alternatively, the shelves may be vertical to display the merchandise standing up. Shelves may be fixed or adjustable. Some racks designed to stand on the floor have a base and the shelf or shelves are elevated on top of a pole or column so that customers can better see them. Other wire display newspaper racks consist of a frame and wire baskets attached to the frame.
